Only days before the season 17 finale aired, DragonTV announced that season 18 would be the last. Since the show's inception in 2004, it peaked in viewership at roughly 50 million viewers per episode in 2007, slipping to nearly 10 million viewers per episode in 2013, and down further since with an average of about 7.20 million viewers per episode in 2020.
